3 Tips to Make Your Lawn Stand Out

Spring has arrived, which means it’s time to start thinking about lawn care. Keeping your grass healthy, green, and lush is no easy task—but with the right tools and a little bit of know-how, you’ll be able to make your yard stand out from the rest! Here are three tips from The Southern Landscape Group on ways you can make your lawn look great.

1. Mow Regularly

Regular mowing is an essential part of keeping your lawn healthy and looking its best. Cutting your grass too short can cause it to dry out while cutting it too long leads to excess thatch buildup. To get the perfect cut every time, mow at least once a week in the spring and summer months. It's also important to use a sharp blade. Dull blades tear at the grass instead of slicing it cleanly, which can damage or even kill the plant.

2. Edge Your Property Borders

Edging is an easy way to create clean lines between your lawn and any other elements and make your lawn stand out. Not only does edging make your lawn look neat, but it also prevents weeds from encroaching on your turf by creating a barrier between them and the soil beneath. You can edge with either an electric edger or a manual one. Whichever you choose, be sure to go around all areas where there is potential for weed growth!

3. Fertilize Regularly

Fertilizer helps keep your grass healthy by providing essential nutrients that it needs to grow strong. But, be careful not to overdo it! Applying too much fertilizer can cause burn spots in your turf or lead to excessive growth which, then, requires frequent mowing. Instead, apply fertilizer once every two weeks during the growing season for optimal results.
